Rev Dr Edward Pillar, Senior Pastor Evesham Baptist Church, writes, “The journey to a new church and community centre to suit the forward-looking life and mission of Evesham Baptist Church began with prayer. To our joy and delight, God wonderfully answered our prayers and we began the process of raising funds.
Fulfilling any vision is never a solo pursuit and so we were delighted by the generosity of Norwood and Newton. They made an offer far larger than we had expected, and along with other grant making bodies, added significantly to the money donated and pledged by church members.
The trustees of Norwood and Newton inspired and encouraged us with their positive response to our vision and their ongoing interest in the building process. Even when we had to scale the project back due to material cost inflation and some design difficulties and our timescale was extended Norwood and Newton remained positive and had no hesitation in continuing their support our project.
The new church and community centre will be a welcome centre among new housing estates on the edge of Evesham. There will be a café, meeting and activity spaces for all ages, a well-equipped kitchen, a dedicated prayer space, and an auditorium and sanctuary which can meet the needs of music, drama, and other groups”.
